2018

Expanding her research on site-specific productions and the relationship of contemporary dance with space the choreographer Evi Panayiotou envisions to use small streets and squares in Cypriot villages and more specifically, walls, doors, fountains, abandoned houses etc. as reference points for a movement experimentation, as well as for the interaction of the dancers/performers with the villagers-visitors of these villages. The project will travel in three villages in August as part of the Cultural Decentralization Plan 2018, organized by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Uniting the living with the lifeless, the human body with an object or a lifeless element, sometimes static and sometimes moving, this specific project wishes to give the audience a different experience of the countryside. Not only a dance experience but at the same time an experience of literature and sound, aiming to join the personal with the collective, the traditional with the modern and, above all, the life in the countryside with its death or/and its rebirth.
